Day 21 Valletta 1 Mosta 0
13/03/2019
An early goal by Miguel Alba was enough for Valletta to defeat Mosta 1-0 and take sole leadership in the BOV Premier League.
The Citizens had a perfect start, taking the lead on the 6th minute when Miguel Alba’s cross shot from the left was not held by the Mosta goalkeeper.
Valletta went close on 29 minutes when Bogdan Gavrila concluded a good run on the right but his curved shot just missed the target.
Bojan Kaljevic was unlucky to hit the crossbar on 41 minutes following a corner from the right by Alba.
Two minutes later, James Brincat missed a good chance for Mosta, concluding high, following a good move by Duane Bonnici on the left.
One minute from the end of the first half, Kaljevic served Alba whose powerful shot was blocked by the goalkeeper. Off the rebound, Mario Fontanella’s overhead kick ended just wide.
In the second half, play was more concentrated in midfield and goal-scoring chances were reduced to a minimum.
However with one minute to go, Valletta almost doubled the score but dollowing an inviting cross by Kaljevic from the right, Santiago Malano’s close range effort was blocked into a corner by a defender.
Valletta’s Miguel Alba was named BOV Player of the Match.
