Dennis Fenech

Dennis Fenech was born on March 29, 1952, in Naxxar. He started his career with Naxxar Lions but in 1973 he was transferred to Valletta.

Fenech made his debut for Valletta on October 8, 1973, and from then on he never looked back. A tough but fair midfielder he stood in every game he played. He could also score goals as can be seeb from his career.

An established international he made his national team debut on February 18, 1976 against West Germany at the Westalen Stadion.

In a career that spanned over 15 seasons, he led the City team to four League Championships, two FA Trophies victories and a host of other major honours.

The former Valletta skipper and Malta international midfielder Dennis Fenech rejoined Valletta FC in May 2002 as head coach.

Fenech already had spells with Naxxar Lions, Mellieha, and Senglea Athletics.

At Valletta, Fenech replaced Bulgarian Georgi Deanov whose contract was not renewed after the team finished in fourth place and failed to win any of the major honours in domestic football. He signed a deal with the Citizens till the end of the season.
