Joe Caruana Curran
Born in Valletta on December 12 1957, Joe Caruana Curran studied at the Lyceum, Hamrun and the University of Malta where he graduated in economics with honours.
For many years a member of the council of the Malta Federation of Industry he occupied various posts in the Council.
Caruana Curran contested the first-ever elections held for local councils and was elected councillor for Valletta. He was re-elected in 1996.
In 1986 he joined Valletta FC’s committee occupying the post of Vice-President. In 1987 he took on the Presidency which he kept up to 2003.
During his presidency, Caruana Curran led Valletta through the greatest period in the club’s history winning a total of 32 major honours.
